NOTE!
With one pattern, you can get a lot of different looks with a little patience and tenacity. Here, we show you how to get from our original Hikaru jacket to our business suit jacket. We raised the waistline, changed the pockets and neckline, extended some stylelines, and slightly modified the sleeves. Even if you are new to patternmaking, with these steps and images, you’ll be well on your way. For clarity’s sake, we use size 34 as our example here. We’re also using a big fat marker; you should use a light pencil marks in case you want to change something again. We highly recommend sewing up a half-muslin of the jacket to check the look and fit before you get to work with your ‘real’ garment.

Materials: 8020 Hikaru Jacket pattern, pencil, eraser, clear ruler, French curve, hip curve, extra paper, invisible tape, tracing wheel
