This coat sat on my chair all cut and ready to be sewn for 2 MONTHS! The instructions were so intimidatingly confusing that I just stared at them every now and then trying to make sense!
In the end after going through Burdastyle looking at the photos closely and studying the notes, it finally made sense. In the end I threw them away and followed intuition.
And now I have this lovely coat to show for it; in its lovely warm copper colour. It was supposed to be ready for winter but that will be over in 2 weeks. So here’s to spring!

Hi everyone
Where did you all find raincoat material? I am really struggling to find any. Help?

your pictures really make me want to get started right away. I love the colour you chose, and yay for chucking the instructions in the bin, they can be so confusing for pretty simple processes. I love thin coats, they’re the best!

thanks! if you read the instructions you’d want to skip them too. its like you have to decode it first.

It’s looking awesome! That would probably also be very cool with a hood instead of a colar.

My Alden has also been sitting all cut out and ready to sew for about that long. You’ve totally inspired me to finish it.

I am making a Jorinde jacket right now, and there’s no pictures to the instructions and it’s not written very well (i think earlier patterns weren’t written as well as the new ones) and i too am intimidated & confused!
I definitely feel like throwing away the instructions.. the first few have made sense now but each new sentence is a challenge lol.
Good on you for going with your gut, it obviously worked! Your coat is so nice, i feel like making another one but i know it’s a bit silly (winters gone, august is being so beautiful right now!)
Congrats, i love it :)

Love your coat! I have been eyeing this pattern for quite some time and seeing your version convinces me even more that I need a coat like that :-)
