This is a project for the Alabama Studio Style competition. It is refashioned from a pair of my favourite jeans, and the bodice material and dove are some cotton sheeting remnants from a quilt cover I made. I reverse appliqued the dove and hand-stitched.
The dress was created for a memorial celebration of a loved one, and the dove is symbolic of that day. I love having the ability to tell a story through a garment, both in where the fabrics have come from, and in the final design.
Bodice – Cotton sheeting,
Skirt – Denim from a pair of favourite old jeans
