This dress is a hybrid of two patterns: the Coffee Date dress and the Afternoon Tea top….hence Afternoon Coffee Dress.
I made the little pleated trim quite thick so that it would really stand out, but i hate the way it sits a little bit funny at the centre of the sweetheart neckline…i might have to add a stitch or two to hold it flat. I added a belt that widens at the front and is nice and long at the back. For the skirt piece i used the shape of the coffee date pattern, but just made it a much fuller and then gathered it to fit at the waist.

you should do your own pattern for the skirt and belt because I’m not great with the whole sewing thing so a pattern from your variation would really help. Its super cute and i would definatly make one like yours

Did you extend the tea top pattern, and if so, how did you do it? By the way, the dress looks absolutely gorgeous, so gorgeous I’m gonna make it for my sister!

o great!! i’d love to see another version!! No i didn’t extend the top, it reached beyond my natural waist so i think i actually cut it up a bit. Good luck with yours!

Coffee + afternoon tea = alice in wonderland! It’s gorgeous. The skirt might be my favourite part. Or the back with the bow… :-)

Is the belt attached, or just tied around the waist?
This is so beautiful :-)

well it is a good dress to start with – it’s extremely easy and the material is so cheap that if you make mistakes there’s no problem! If you do want to make something similar i’d be happy to answer any questions or give advice!! good luck!!

yes i used the Afternoon Tea Top for the bodice part of the dress and then used the basic shape of the Coffee Date Dress for the skirt – but i made it much fuller so i could gather at the waist. Have a go, it was very simple and i’d love to see another variation!

I really love your dress, But i have a question.
How much coton did you use? who many yards?

I used about 1.5m of cotton sheeting in the teal colour i think. I know that i bought about 3m, and i have about 1.5m left over!! You can amend the pattern to fit the material you’ve got because i just made the skirt as wide as my fabric width would allow and then gathered it in. If you use a little bit less / more material you can just adjust the gathers to fit.

really love the pleated/ruffle trim. maybe if it had been cut and crossed over instead of kept in piece at the centre of the sweetheart neckline…? gorgeous dress overall :)

yay..thanks. The best bit is…since it’s just cotton sheeting it cost about £2 to make (75p of that is the zip!!)
