I just finished this dress and I’m very happy right now. I made the pattern with the help of Tomoko Nakamichi"s Pattern Magic book. I think she is a wonderful pattern maker and I wish to know half of what she does.I used a brocade fabric I had for many years and never knew what to make out of it. I guess I was just waiting for this design. The front has an extra panel that built in to the skirt and twist trough an opening on the top part of the dress. The skirt is very tapered and I wanted to have the effect of not having any slit on it [this is why I hid it under the extra panel. Other than this, there is not much I can say. Lot of work on the pattern, but it’s so worth it. At least that is how I feel about it:))

Thank! I’m really not good at patternmaking. Learned some basics when I was in school. But very easy to follow instructions from this book.

I guess that is the perfect occasioin. You just have to be careful that you aren’t stealing the show from the bride. ;)
By the way: Which pattern magic book did you use? The first or the second one?

I just got this book as a gift, and they seem a bit daunting to me (those patterns) but you did a super job, very inspiring for me to give it a go :)

The most difficult part was to go back to count in cm. I have been using inches for 14 years and that confused me some times. But that shouldn’t be a problem for you. Other than that the instructions are pretty easy to follow. Good luck:))
