This dress was made from an African Print fabric that I was luckily enough to be given – I wanted to make dress for the summer, although I know I will wear it throughout the year, I waited till I could find the right pattern to use for the fabric and I always felt inspired to use one of my vintage sewing patterns from the 50’s or early 60’s from my collection, as I knew the print would be reflected well.
I was really interested in seeing how I could work the pattern, as it is so vivid and brilliant with colour – open to my style.
I used a vintage pattern that I have wanted to try out for a long time and I am really pleased with the result – 2010 will be my year for dresses.

I love it! I totally dig the African prints and wish I could find some here in Australia. It’s so hot here at the moment, this kind of dress would definitely be COOL!
