I was totally inspired by a fellow Burda lady for this project (this dress is so great: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/1950s-dress-with-african-fabric). I mixed two different wax prints on this dress – I intended on using the acorn print all the way around but 2 yards wasn’t enough.
I was really drawn to the psychedelic patterns of these prints – eyeballs and acorns, how can you go wrong? I used a Butterick reproduction vintage pattern (5748). I also lined this one with voile at the bust and poly organza at the skirt to give it more fullness. You can read more about the process here: http://closetcasefiles.blogspot.ca/2012/06/wax-prints-party-dresses.html
