I had cut the parts of Jennifer pattern a long time ago but I wasn’t too enthusiatic about it, nor the fabric which I found slightly tacky.
At the end of June, I went to see the My Bloody Valentine playing a gig at the Roundhouse in London. The front woman, Bilinda Butcher, was wearing a beautiful blouse with a pleated ‘bib’. I decided to apply the idea to the Jennifer pattern. The mistake for me was that I had cut the front neck inset(see last picture) and it was difficult to sew it back to the front part. So next time, if I ever reproduce the blouse (uhmm crepe fabric would be great) I would redraft the neck line(a straighter curve rather than a plunging one)before cutting the fabric.
The gig was great and so was Bilinda Butcher’s melodic voice over the overwhelming wall of sound

I love everything about this. Your attention to detail is amazing! Also reading the description made me dig out my old My Bloody Valentine record and that led to me having my own little festive fifty of an afternoon, I had a lovely day. Thanks for the inspiration!

gasp. your work is beautiful, and you rightly get two pages of comments for it. I never paid much attention to the darts that are already on the original pattern, but on your blouse together with the frontpiece, even they suddenly look an amazing detail. i’ll be up at 6 tomorrow and get started…
and that gig, i heard it was impressive a few times now.
