I modified the Michael pattern for boxers to try to adapt them to boxers I already had on hand and which fit well. I still want to tweak the pattern a little for future sewings, but this is a fast and easy way to put discount fabric to work! Around 1 yard of fabric needed. I also modified the pattern to make a working fly, and for the waistband, rather than make a casing, I stitched elastic directly to the fabric as shown in the last 2 minutes or so of this tutorial from Threads:
