Description

I drafted the pattern for this skirt. It is the first pattern I’ve ever drafted, and I’m very happy with the outcome! The fabric is gathered at the waist, and there are two small tucks around the hem. The style of the skirt is classic and very easy to wear. My goal is to make versatile pieces, and this skirt is a wonderful success!

I drafted the skirt (as well as the sloper) with the resource Modern Pattern Design by Harriet Pepin.
I drafted the skirt waistband using a tutorial from Coletterie .

Material Notes

Cotton/polyester blend, invisible zipper, & lightweight fusible interfacing.

Nice skirt! Modern Pattern Design is such entertaining reading. There’s something very endearing about the praise of the zipper as the new “ingenious device for fastening”, and just in the general tone of the writing of the time.

Is this a "peasant skirt "of a “simulated peasant skirt”?

Thank you! I completely agree: the tone is very endearing. This is a peasant skirt.
