I started out trying to make a sheath dress from a vintage McCall’s pattern. Maybe it was my fault for making it out of blue fabric with white trim, but when I finished it and modeled it for my husband, he thought it was a flight attendant costume. So of course I had to make a quick little pillbox hat to go with it!
The dress is marked as a teen pattern and features kimono sleeves, a bateau neckline in front dipping down to a V in the back with a removable bow. It closes with an side zipper (my first time doing one!).

Cute! I’m fascinated by the split at the back – it looks like a pleat? The shape of the neckline at the back is also lovely.

It is indeed a pleat! There are better pictures of it here: http://cationdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/11/awesome-sewing-resource.html
