I was very excited to get started on a project from the the new book BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern and I had this awesome fabric from Hart’s Fabric.
I had to opportunity to choose a fabric from Hart’s Fabric, and since I love working with spandex I immediately started browsing the swimwear fabric section. This abstract green watercolor fabric caught my eye. I love working with anything limegreen and stretchy. When I received it, I thought the beautiful print would look super cool in a jumpsuit and I also had this black spandex mesh that really complemented it.
I used two of the base pattern from the book to create my jumpsuit. For the bottom I used the Jean Stirrup Pants and the Elizabeth Gathered-Waist Dress bodice for the top portion. I raised the waistline and omitted the pintuck and waistband for the bottoms and I drafted a bustier variation found in the book using the master pattern for the top. The drafting and sewing instructions in the book were so easy to follow, and I love all the variations you can make. I took two different master patterns and made it into one garment, and it turned out great.
With my leftover fabric I decided to make a headwrap to complete my look! I followed our Headwrap DIY. I love how this jumpsuit can be styled, here I wanted an athletic look but you could easily wear heels and a glittery clutch to jazz it up for nighttime!

Thanks ! Actually, the stirrup pant pattern is from the new book and cannot be purchased individually. To get this pattern you must either buy the eBook (which will then give you the code to download) or purchase the book which will have the physical pattern inside. BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern http://www.burdastyle.com/burdastyle-sewing-vintage-modern is available to but December 11th. Hope this helps!!
