I’ve been working on this coat, intermittently, since spring. Finaly, it’s ready! Hopefully it will get me through the Canadian winter in high style.
The pattern is Butterick 5425, although I swapped in a different sleeve.
The whole long, grueling affair is recorded in detail on my blog
Coating labeled "100% Fibre", with a neat diagonal diamond pattern. Interlining: something felt-like with a foil side to reflect heat (see photo). Lining: Kasha flannel-backed lining.

This is a really lovely coat and it suits you perfectly. I can imagine it in a snowy landscape… keeping you warm. It looks so well made and that fabric with the foil is very intriguing, reminds me of a space suite – that should keep you warm, definitely.

I would have never thought that the coat on the package would be as awesome as the one you made. The coat looks very plain compared to your version… I can’t believe it’s just the sleeve that’s been changed. Great coat, it looks snuggly… I LOVE it!

Funny, if anything my version is plainer than the original, since it lacks the puffed shoulder. Thanks! :)

Thank you, everyone! It was a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it. Of course, it’s not quite cold enough to wear it yet….

It’s about 3/4 of a full circle, which is still astounding. It’s very heavy! I love it with the boots, too; sadly they’re not really winter-worthy, but great for pictures!

It is not a very old pattern—-you should still be able to find it in stores or order it quite easily :) Glad you liked it! :)
