Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Robin liked it, so he put a ring on it.
October 15, 2011 by husband I made our love official in front of family and friends.
Robin and I originally met out salsa dancing, so guess what our wedding dance was? Yeah that’s right. Salsa.
Problem – my wedding dress was big enough to smuggle a piano under.
Solution – make me a second dress for our dance.
Enter ‘A Wedding dress of sorts’. This dress is made using silk dupion and french lace. I tirelessly hand stitched on lace motifs to the front of the skirt that climbs into the bodice.
We had such a beautiful night and the dress was a success.

Well I am happy that this turned out to an earlier project you posted, because when I saw that you had put up yet another project, I was getting some rather existential doubts about my own slow pace of outputting projects :) You look gorgeous Julia, I’m really happy for you and Robin and I’m certain you’ll be very happy together. Hi Julia, Once again I have to let you know how much I love your work. Your wedding dresses are simply beautiful and you looked so beautiful too, along with your handsome husband. Even if you never wear the dresses again, enjoy having them in your cupboard as a reminder of your special day and how hard you worked to make them so beautiful.

This is lovely! Have you considered dying it in order to wear it again? It looks great in white and it’s non-traditional enough that it doesn’t look impossibly bride, but you might get more wear out of it in a colour. Or wear it with brightly coloured shoes to tone down the sweetness, maybe for a summer wedding or a night out dancing.

Thank you! It’s such a shame that I’m never really going to have anywhere else to wear it too! Still it’s a really nice keepsake from the day and fits a lot easier into my closet than my big wedding dress. x
