Okay, so I have a terrible track record when it comes to finishing projects meant for my boyfriend. Somewhere in my closet right now there is an unlined blazer and cuff-less shirt. For some reason, I find menswear so frustrating that I just abandon projects. Anyway, I managed to see this one through to completion, much to my dude’s delight (surprise).
The pattern wasn’t too difficult. I obsessed over the welt pockets for a while… but I think they came out just fine. I had to do some major fit adjustments though, because my bf is quite a bit smaller than the smallest burda size. I took some out of the side seams, but I took most of the room out of the back, by pretty much extending and expanding the back darts. That seemed to work all right.
He seems pretty happy with it.
The vest itself is made with a stiff navy corduroy and the lining is just a cotton print that I dyed to a denim blue.

It looks almost professional-the custom fitting always takes forever, but it looks so good in the end. Nice job!

Wonderful job! Love the fit you achieved, the pockets are great, but the best thing to me is the lining – love the print and the colour both! Simply great vest!

Great job! Yes, men’s clothes can be tricky because they are so many details, but I love it. I’ve never sewed women’s clothes before and I am quite sure it would be frustrating for my first time too, but don’t give up! It will become natural and second nature to you if you keep up the work.
