Description

Hi!! This is a little shug I made to make my cowl top appropriate for some more chilly days! It is as easy to sew as the top. The pattern is a simple rectangle, I have seen many shrugs like this in rtw stores. There are many tutorials on the web, one of them is “this”: http://somethingtocraftabout.com/?p=555
I made 6 pleats at the bottom of the sleeves and added wide doubled bands, I think this way the shug looks a little more well finished. I have made loads of these shrugs and i have them always in my purse whenever the temprature is a little bit more low.

Material Notes

lycra jersey

Nice shrug! I have made the one you linked to, but I really like the way you finished the bottom of the sleeves. :-)

Well, i don’t have such a top with draping, I don’t have such a shrug… I wonder what else I don’t have but must… I’m sure I’ll know it from your next post.:-)) I’m mostly in knitted or crocheted shrugs and wanted to ask if it’s made of fabric, is it comfortable to wear because shrugs are not much fitted, do they stay on shoulders or must be fixed all the time?

This particular shrug is a rectangle and doesn’t stay in place:( So either you fix it all the time (attracting this way the attention of the men:P) or let it sit where it wants. I don’t mind very much fixing it but if you are nervous about this then you can add a doubled band (like the ones at the sleeves but narrower) at the neckline opening: this band must be a little bit shorter than the opening and you must stretch while you are attaching it to the neckline. I have tried this and makes the fit nicer. Or maybe some elastic (I haven’t tried this, but it could be a solution). But if you use a real pattern instead of rectangles then the shrug sits very nicely at the shoulders.

Interesting and useful instructions, thank you very much.
And a good trick as for the men, by the way:-)

Thank you! This finishing is a good solution when you don’t have a serger and I prefer it many times:)
