For Halloween this year I decided to go as the DC Comics Character Poison Ivy. I was inspired by a beautiful green dress that I made after finding the fabric in the clearance aisle at the fabric store! With that as a base, I bought a 6ft vine of artificial ivy leaves and painted the tips of them with a red glitter glue and sewed them onto the bodice by hand. I also added a few here and there on the skirt.
Poison’s makeup was by FAR my favorite part of getting ready, even though I really enjoyed designing the dress!! I bought all the greens, and sparkles I could find and even came across these gorgeous eyelashes that matched perfectly for my eyes! I even covered my eyebrows with a few of the smaller leaves so I didn’t have any of my “natural hair” showing. Of course finishing off my face with her fierce red lipstick.
To tie the whole look together I found a great red wig, some lime green fishnets, and wore some red pumps that I already owned.
I’m so happy with how it all turned out, and am excited to wear it later on for the kiddies (less the make-up, I’ve had enough of that!!)
