These Carol leggings are my absolute favourite, wear them every day, can’t live without, BurdaStyle pattern. I have three identical pairs. I have a long list of problems with store bought leggings including: they’re too short, the waist falls at the wrong spot, the fabric is either too stretchy or not stretchy enough, the elastic rolls, just to list a few. You’d think that such a simple item of clothing would be hard to get so wrong.
My leggings have a high waist, nice thick elastic in the waistband stitched in to prevent rolling, extra extra long so there is some fun bunching at the bottom, and I found the perfect fabric for them. I wear them for yoga in the morning and continue wearing them all day with a dress thrown on.
Which brings me to my fab new Anda. How great is this dress? I know there are lots of comments about making this dress a size smaller. I made it according to my measurements and love the easy fit. Neckline is wider and lower. I also bound it rather than turning the binding under. I left off the casing so I can just sling my choice of belt over it. I plan on making about 10 of these, this pattern is the best excuse to buy whatever great fabric catches your eye.

Hi Sandra!!! You have inspired me to make my own Anda. Brought the pattern and cut out the material last night and will sew it up tonight. Dying for my lunch break, so I can hit the markets and buy more material! On holidays in New York next week, so a couple of Anda’s will be fab! x An

Annie! Fancy seeing you on Burda!! Yes, go the Anda. It is loose fitting but looks great in soft fabrics. You’ll look great in NYC. xx

I think a soft cotton voile would flatter the extra fitting ease in the Anda. I tried to make mine out of a crisp shirt weigth fabric and it just didn’t work. Yours looks fabulous though!

Thanks! I think voile is absolutely ideal for this. I’m now itching to buy Liberty to make this dress in.

You’re right, these two look really good together! So what kind of fabric was that, for the leggings?

The leggings are a cotton with some spandex. It is a light to medium weight with plenty of stretch.

Your description as well as the photo convince me that I have to try the anda pattern. Presumbaly it’s really easy without the casing? Really nice outift.

You should really try it. It’s very easy. I taped and cut the fabric while watching Mad Men then sewed it up by the time friends arrived for brunch the next morning.
