In short, I wanted to make a skirt with suspenders. I found a picture from a 1950’s pattern and went off of that. I made the suspenders removable so I could have two different skirt looks. I started off with a circle skirt then sewed a rectangle waistlet to the top. I put darts in to make it fitted.
Unfortunately, with the suspenders, I look like a parochial school girl. Whoops! I guess it would be good for cosplaying, right? And yes, I forgot to iron post-sewing. Again!

I actually really like the idea of this skirt with suspenders. I bought some suspenders a while ago with the aim of doing something similar. I just was not sure how the suspender would sit on my chest (as usually boys wear them and don’t have boobs). i think your skirt/dress is quite sweet.

love it. I think it really challenges the line between a skirt and a dress. great idea :)
