This is a wrap skirt…again. I originally made it floor-length, but the fabric was quite sheer (being white) and I didn’t have anything to line it with, so I cut off the bottom, gathered it, and sewed it on as a second layer.
I interfaced the waistband, which I had never done on a wrap skirt. I really like the way it looks, it’s much smoother and more durable. The fabric is a cotton IKEA sheet.
It’s a fairly simple project, as all wrap skirts are, but still I really like the way it turned out.
As always, it’s also on my "blog"http://myhandmadestuffs.blogspot.com/.

Beautiful skirt! I have used sheets in many projects, often as lining, sometimes as the fabric. How do the ikea sheets compare considering cost and quality. Thank you!

I absolutely love IKEA sheets. They have several different sheet ‘series’, I guess, at different price points.
First is the $1.99 Knoppa sheets which are very loosely woven and are made of cotton/poly blend and pill pretty badly. This is understandable, at that price!
Next is the Dvala, about $7 and a 144 thread count. These are better quality and have a simple, rather stiff weave. I like these for simple cottony shifts.
The third, is the Gaspa, which is about $10 and has a satin weave. It’s very soft and silky and I just adore the fabric. I use it for clothes that I want a little more ‘special’ but stilly really easy to care for.
I find that these IKEA sheets are better quality and cheaper than any other I’ve been able to find at Walmart, Target, etc. They’re easy to wash and they hold up really well.
