After reading through one of my vintage fashion books (a christmas present from mum!) I wanted to create a 1940’s style silhouette. I love making these simple skirts which are constructed around the waistline, they don’t require too much thought. I wanted to have a tight waist with some volume up top with the pleating. It didn’t turn out exactly how I had wanted. Next time I will make the waist tighter and add more volume to the skirt, so that the waist looks more dramatic. Oh… and I will be making a tutorial soon about skirt constructed on the waist:)

Your picture is great, and your skirt is too. I love anything 40’s, and I love the ease of a pleated or gathered skirt.
