Description

Finally took the photos of my Amanda shirt. I finished it two weeks ago. I made it in size 50 in purple silk georgette that I washed first. I decided last year to cut costs and quit making dry clean only clothes. If you are new to sewing and need information on silk care and hand washing look here http://www.srfabrics.com/care/silk.htm
For this shirt I followed the directions for the original Amanda with the elastic at the bottom but added 10 inches to the shirt to create a flounce. I need to hide my tummy and thighs. The other two changes I added to the pattern is that I applied a light weight knit interfacing stabilizer to the band that goes around the neck to help make it easier to press and sew. It’s the same interfacing I picked to put in the sleeve. I also decided to use 1/8” elastic in the neckline in place of the tie for ease of slipping the shirt on when dressing. I then sewed the tie to the shoulder seam for looks.

Material Notes

Silk Georgette, Pellon Ek130 Easy -Knit interfacing, 1/8 inch elastic

Very cute! Good idea with the elastic on the neckline—I just made the Amanda, and it’s a bit of a pain to untie it every time… Smart thinking. Love the color!

I agree. I first ran a string tie in it and decided after trying it on once I was not going to mess with that every time I wanted to wear it.

p.s. Your Amanda is totally cute and romantic!
