Oh my God, I am so relieved that this dress is finished. Took me almost 3 (!!) years and cost me so much energy and nerves. When I started I was very motivated. I even bought the original fabric – as you can see from the magazine’s picture (burdastyle 10/2009, no. 112B). But when working on it I got more and more disturbed by the chiffon (sliding around whenever possible, fraying to death), loads of french seams, seam ripping over and over again because I made so many mistakes, the rubber band casing. So I throw it into the corner… got it out again, nerved me again… throw it again in the corner. I think when I started it was just too advanced for me. Finally after some sewing classes and easier projects in between, I dared to work on it again. And somehow, I don’t know how, I finished it.
It didn’t come out as I wanted. Actually the waist is supposed to be much lower, now it’s an empire waist which I’m not very fond of ‘cause I think it doesn’t flatter me too much. But I didn’t know anything about a big bust adjustment back then and I am happy just because of the fact that it is finished and doesn’t give me a bad consciousness any more. I am ready to start with something new !! (Oh, isn’t there this skirt that I started 2 years ago and didn’t finish….? ;-)
