A black dress with very (read: too much) flimsy lace insert. The pattern come from October issue of Burda Magazine (# 125). This pattern is very well drafted and the dress is easy to make. I only regret that I don’t have enough occasions to wear this kind of dress…

Wow, looks great. Thanks for the tips on the lace, I want to work with lace so bad, but have been afraid.

The only tricky part of the construction is the insertion of the lace (it can be tricky because of the curvy shape), but it’s not a problem if you know how to do that. For the lace insert, try to keep a smaller sewing allowance (on both the front piece of the dress and on the lace insert), then clip the sewing allowance of the dress in the curves before sewing the insert.

Love it ! Looks really nice on you and you should’nt wait for a special occasion, just wear it !!!! I saw this in the magazine and was tempted to give it a try but thought it might be too difficult, maybe now I will :-))

I agree! Don’t wait for an occasion, it looks really great and it’d be a shame for it to sit in your wardrobe!

Thanks a lot. Perhaps I can wear it to cook the diner :-) As I explain before, the only tricky part of the construction is the insertion of the lace (it can be tricky because of the curvy shape), but it’s not a problem if you know how to do that. For the lace insert, try to keep a smaller sewing allowance (on both the front piece of the dress and on the lace insert), then clip the sewing allowance of the dress in the curves before sewing the insert.
