Description

I’ve decided to make my houndstooth check dress over. It wasn’t bad but I found myself looking like 10 years old in it;) So I felt I need to change it. I was also searching for something to try on my new sewing machine:D In the end, I decided to make one-shoulder dress and change the shape of ‘skirt-part’ from trapezoid to sth similar to pencil skirt (or at least I tried to achieve that;)). There was lots of ripping off and resewing. I’m quite happy with the result, although I failed a little with the zip (it’s not as invisible as I’d like to).
It’s great as everyday dress with high boots and also can be more formal with high heels for holidays’ dinner or something like that;)

The last picture shows dress before its makeover.

It looks great… I’m so into the one shoulder thing at the moment – need more time to sew so I can actually make something one shouldered! There is a great how-to on here for invisible zips, the biggest tip I can offer is to iron the seam allowances before you sew it in! I’ve successfully inserted 3 – but still practicing!

good job! You will get better at zips with lots of practice. They have a special foot for invisible zips..it makes it a little easier.

      Thank you :)
I actually have this special foot and usually my zips looks a little better;) so I think I’ve failed because it was resewing, which, surprisingly, I found more difficult that creating dress from the beginning.
