I love to pair up suiting with lace: one is sensible, the other romantic.
I made this dress in the winter when it was -30c and I was annoyed with the expectation that for women, dressing up means being sexy, which means revealing skin, which is just too damn cold for Canada in December. Honestly, I spend most of the winter in a thick sweater dress and massive parka, but I felt like a compromise was possible…
So I designed a dress that I could wear out to a concert or a nice dinner without baring my shoulders and getting cold, but which still has that little tease, that pretty piece of sheer lace.
