I had a lovely length of red and blue printed cotton that I was keen to use but felt it was a bit full on for a whole frock- better as an ‘accent’ on a plainly designed dress. I found this ‘Very Easy Vogue – 8229’ pattern ideal with it’s basic but fabulous round neck and gathered detail. The dress was ‘Very Easy’ to make and comes with the option of adding a flounce at the hem and sleeves. I kept it simple but made a little belt to cinch it in and add a bit of interest at the waist.
I had a little bit of trouble with the neckline as it tends to ‘sit up’ from the shoulders. I fixed this by cutting the size smaller for the neck piece when I made it again in a black and orange combo.
Navy polyester, printed poly/cotton/lycra, fusible interfacing, 22" zip, hook and eye
