Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I wanted to make a simple a-line dress and decided to try it with this fabric. It’s a medium weight cotton so I thought it could be worn in the summer as well as cold weather if worn with tights and maybe a turtle neck underneath. I made it without a pattern and I cut the fabric out on the floor in a shape I thought would work. It took me a while to decide on the neck and sleeves or lack there of. I was then inspired by verypurpleperson’s "Three dresses " but my sleeves are smaller. I didn’t get the darts quite right but it was my first attempt so I know what to do differntly next time. It also has in seam pockets. I usually try to create simple things without a pattern just to see if I can do it :)
Oh, the ruffle sleeves were made with the selvage because I liked the little white threads poking out.
Also shown with a jacket and earrings I made as well as my pin from my knit hat.

Cute! I feel you on the pattern thing…I do that too – to see what I can get away with! I really don’t like using patterns, but I do sometimes since am still learning. I can’t wait till am a pro. & You are soo right…your dress would look great with some tights in the colder months!!
