I was looking for some velvet for a Santa costume, when I fell in love with this elastic velvet… The pattern was already printed and put together, so the rest is history. I sewed this dress using a walking foot and a concealed zipper foot, it was much easier this way.
The dress was inspired by one of Josephine Bonaparte’s dress, so it’s long and has a distinguish ribbon under the bust.
elastic velvet, fully linened

Excellent-and thanks for mentioning the walking foot-I never thought of that, and I know how difficult working with this type of fabric can be.
