Description

Man’s wool herringbone sport jacket becomes a friendly crocodile. This poor guy, during development of my pattern, suffered many surgeries & the wounds are visible.
The wool was wonderful quality, but, I should have known to interface 1st. MUCH easier to copy design on & would have prevented distortion of seams as he was filled & closed. So, I learn.
Thinking way to go for Beach Baby dolls, as well..adding “body” to the body. Maybe less bunching when stuffing, too!
He is jointed, as the bears, with hardboard discs, washers, steel screws & locknuts to allow movement.
I was amazed he could stand freely, but, am adapting somewhat for next fellow. Have a name & a concept…so am not giving up the “ship” quite yet. He would be quite fun to dress, accessorize. Have flippers for him-ha!
A “toy” but, not for small children.

Material Notes

Wool fabric, polyester filling, rayon lining (eyes), hardboard discs, steel screws, washers, locknuts, and thread.

Ha! Maybe from my Russian DNA! I can not wait to look up your references…so much fun! We are very much into cartoon characters! Even my youngest & his girlfriend, using them for inspiration in many ways for art and music. Thank you for the information-I will be the new biggest fan!

Oh, he’s soooo cute!!! And he reminds me of “someone” – maybe it’s because back home he was the "most famous crocodile! ;-) If you google for “crocodile gena” you’ll see him in the images (and videos) from the series of cartoons we all watched as children. You’ll also see the adorable “Cheburashka” (the cute little brown furry guy with huge ears, who is Gena’s companion) – no one (including within the cartoons) knows exactly what he is, so don’t ask! ;-) Anyway, I know that you’ve already come up with the name, but that’s who this little awesome guy of yours reminds me of! ;-)
