Before committing to the entire dress, I made up the bodice portion of the Colette Ceylon dress pattern out of scraps from other projects. It takes some fiddling for me to get Colette patterns to fit, as they’re drafted for a curvaceous hourglass and I’m more of a boyish rectangle, but I think it was worth it. It was quite an adventure as I decided to line it (not in the instructions) and add piping galore, but it was actually fun to make and turned out fairly well.
All the deets of fitting and construction on my blog
herringbone-weave wool; black linen; dark-red piping.
