This is my first garment-sewing experience. I’m studying Fashion Design in Lyon, France starting this fall, and I wanted some technical sewing experience before starting the semester. I found this pattern, and loved it for the blustery fall over there in the southeastern region. I had my grandmother help me, a great opportunity for the two of us to spend time together, and to soak up all her decades of experience.
I chose a small hounds-tooth checked wool and a black double-knit to line it (which we added to the pattern).
I will say, the pattern is not easy to follow and lacks some serious direction, which is really unfortunate. It tooke me a couple attempts to get it right.
But I think it turned out real well, and I will be wearing it on the plane tomorrow! I can’t wait for my next project…
2 1/4 yds wool
2 1/4 yds double-knit cotton (lining)
1 36" double zipper
