My friends and I decided for a little fun we would have a night out devoted to the 80’s. We each had to dress up 80’s style in one particular colour. My colour was yellow, my favourite :), and so I decided to make my own dress. I based the top part on miasu’s contour bust pattern, then made up the rest as I went along. The top middle bit of the bust pattern was a bit loose, so I scrunched it up, which gave a look that I liked much better in the end. It was a fun dress to wear and I really enjoyed making it. The contour bust pattern is one of my favourites. Unfortunatly the back hem has startd to fray because I was quite lazy finishing the hem off :( (i hate hemming) however it won’t be that hard to fix, so I’m not too fussed. I also made a matching bag out of the scraps and the sleeves of an old top. It was a fun night :)
Cotton, it was really hard trying to find a yellow material that I liked. Originally I wanted to use something that had a very 80’s ike pattern but I couldn’t find anything I liked. In hindsight I’m glad I didn’t use a really busy pattern because it combined with the ruffles would have maybe made the dress a bit too busy :P
