Description

this burda magazine from november of 1979, must be one of my all time favorites!
i made a dress and this shirt using patterns from that issue
and i have at least 4 more projects planned
..
anyways
this is the shirt pattern i was looking for, for years!
one that has pleats instead of darts, to create that extra space you need at the bodice
and has that nice silhouette
and cute little collar
and hidden buttons placket
(i used sew in snaps instead of buttons, because my bernina refuses to make buttonholes
but i still went for hidden placket, because i really like how it looks)
..
fabric is rayon chiffon
i thought it’s going to be hell sewing it
but everything worked like a charm
resulting in one of my neatest makes to date
..
can’t wait to make this shirt in different variations!
like a dress.. and sleeveless.. and with contrasting collar and placket and cuffs..
so many ideas!
..
see more pics on my blog mokosha

This shirt is awesome! I love the color, the fabric and the styling ! I have tons of old Burdas at home, but never dared to try any of the patterns

thank you! oh, you should totally give them a try, i really enjoyed sewing with this pattern, it’s really well drafted one.. just double check the sizing charts, as some of the older burdas (from early ’70s and older) come in different sizes, and you may need to go up a size or two

Gorgeous shirt. The details in this are done so well.and the styling is spot on. I love the old burdas as there’s always a little gem or two in with all the horrors lol x

thanks, mary :) yeah, if you can look past the horrible stylings, insane hair and polyester fabrics, there are some real gems in those old burdas

I always love the line drawings anyway as then you can visualise your fabric with it x
