60s A-line dress (Modified Butterick 5607)

Added Mar 5, 2014

by bernieandi

Sydney, Australia

I used the pattern Butterick 5607 but I made a lot of changes to it. I drafted my own collar (still learning the best way of doing that).

I wore it on Christmas eve last year (its hot in Australia at Christmas time…)

More project images and details on my blog!

Material Notes

Its a cotton Pique (interesting weave) bought from Spotlight when it was on sale ($3 per meter if I recall correctly…Also I still have more of this fabric) collar piece is a white cotton drill, Invisible zip, Gtermann, polyeter thread, Iron on interfacing (for facings)

Thank you Denise! I’m glad your a fan of the collar! While I was sewing it I was worried it was too big.
