I like your version of this pattern! Good choice of fabric and color.
Can anyone help me with Step 1? I CAN’T figure out the very first step, attaching the 2 front side pieces to the front center. I will be forever grateful!

Very easy to make – once you get the knack of doing the neckline.
But I did not pay attention to the position of the arm ties – I will have to cut them and make a straight seam instead.
If you give a half inch more seam to the back part, you can save the zipper ….
