My friend Tonia is having her 50th Birthday Party this evening in a convict-built pub, I wanted a dress to keep me warm, yet comfortable, but with a funky edge….Da Da! The Port Elizabeth (thankyou Sarah Eagle) top lengthened into a dress. It feels great and only took a couple of hours to make, really happy with this look :)

Material Notes

Wool knit remnant ($18 for 2 metres!) from Knitwit in Nedlands- a real bargain!

You look great in this dress Jenny and I am glad you had a fun night. I didn’t know Knitwit stores still existed. We certainly don’t have one in Brisbane. I have about a dozen Knitwit patterns from the 80’s in my cupboard and they are still really good basic knit patterns.

I think this is their last store Marjorie, they’re quite expensive but their knit fabrics are the best you can get, they’ve moved online.

Thanks Jenny, I have just had a look at their web site and I don’t think I would order from it. I still like to touch fabric and hold it up to my face. But I do like the fabric you made your dress in and I am sure you will have enjoyed sewing with it.
