Description
My mum had been wanting me to make her something ‘special’ for a while and I thought, when would be better than for her 50th birthday?
So after some discussion we decided on a fun dress in a bright fabric.
She then decided it would be great to design it with wearing it to my up and coming graduation in mind.
I drafted the pattern for the skirt half of the dress by making an A-line skirt with two inverted pleats on the front and two small pleats on the back. For the skirt to kick out I decided to attach a strip of gathered netting to the bottom part of the lining.
The dress is fully lined and there is an invisible zip down the back.
This is the first garment I have made for someone else, which made the tailoring a lot easier!
It goes well with gold jewellery such as statement necklaces and waist belts.
My mum loves it :)
Material Notes
