Burda Style For people who sew
Description
This dress is not what I invisioned when I started sewing. I was going for more of a 50’s housewife with it, but ended up with this sort of ballerina looking dress. It has princess seams on the bodice and the skirt is about 3.5 yards of gathered fabric…my ruffle foot was my best friend for this one.
The neckline was an experiment, I think I’m going to lower it and make the design a little more pronounced next time. I’ll probably lengthen the bodice and add a circle skirt too for the overall look I was really going for.

I love the way the sillhouette came out. It still has a 50’s feel but not so costume-like, which I think it makes it stand out.

Thank you! It has definitely grown on me since I first finished it. I think after the initial dissapointment of it not being what I wanted, I realized exactly that. It’s got the feel, but a more modern wearable look.
