I too am confused by the sizing as it does not match up with the sizing chart- also the pattern says to lengthen pieces 22 and 24 as indicated, however, I do not see how much to lengthen them by anywhere in the instructions- Help!

Please explain the pattern sizes “17, 18, 19 etc”. I checked the pattern sizing pages but do not see these sizes.

Sizes 17-22 are called “half sizes” and are for petite women. In width, they correspond to sizes 34-44, but supposedly have a shorter torso length, higher hemline, etc., to fit a shorter person.
Even if you are not petite, I would say for this dress, go ahead and use the size that is half your usual size. The worse that can happen is the belt casing might be a bit too high on you.

This would look great in seersucker, and would travel well, too.
