Description

I wanted to make a 40s dress and chose this one as it looks 40s ish. This is my toile. I used a polycotton sheet that I got for a £1, it is a bit thin and doesn’t have enough weight to hang right, it also looks like a nurses uniform. I shortened the sleeves and added piping and used 3 lines of stitching , red, white and blue on sleeves and hem. I also omitted the zip as I can pull it on. with the proper fabric I will put a side zip in and slightly raise the neck opening. A very easy dress to make.

Even as a toile, the bodice looks great. I’m sure the dress will be perfect in your real fabric. I hope you’ll post pictures.
