I had such high hopes for this pattern, was looking for something interesting to wear working outdoors.
Just tried the pattern in size 40, followed the instructions and the result look just like in the picture. I’m sorry to say that there is not much room for movement in these, the crouch is just lowered on a pair of straight pants so it fits almost like a skirt. The legs middle pieces have no real function for ease since they are to low placed. Not very comfortable and can not be used as ordinary military pants.

I like the version the model is wearing, but what is the pouch between the legs on the pattern??

I think you are seeing the piece for the front pockets. You fold it to make one pocket.
