I decided to celebrate my 30th birthday by sewing myself a dress… Which is something I’d never done before. Previous to this project, the most complicated item I’d ever sewn from a pattern was a bag with two darts and two seams. Armed with the Parfait from Colette Patterns (http://www.colettepatterns.com), I took on this challenge and am so thrilled with the results! I used a polyester print from the thrift store, and omitted the pockets as well as the buttons on the straps. I made tons of mistakes, but it was an excellent crash course in developing my skills… And hey, the dress fits and I like it! So let’s call it a win, all around.
I used a Size 10 for the bust, and eased it into a Size 14 for the midriff and the skirt portion.
The fabric is random polyester from the local thrift store, $5 for 5 metres (I still have around 3 metres left!)
