So i found this beautiful Rose and Hubble fabric on ebay for 20quid, were talking like 10 yards( Wooooooo!) I’d wanted to to have a sophisticated BBQ/Tea Party for my birthday as everyone else just goes out and gets drunk, which we would do but i wanted everyobne to remember part of it! As a baby i had a dress in similar fabric to this one, so i got onto Polyvore mood board(ed?) my idea for the food, dress, shoes, decorations, fabric and blah…..So over the summer on a break from uni I could sit in the garden designing and planning every aspect. I decided upon this sweetheart neckline with circle skirt because it is a classic and i suit only curve friendly numbers. I chose to make it more interesting by using the stripes of the fabric to create a zig zag pattern with the bodice, thios took time but was so worth the effort as I felt it added more craftmanship to the piece. I like the bodice with a satin finish matte gold lining fabric and added two rigilene bones to the front and back, now wishing it rounded off the edges as they like to stab at your flesh, naughty little things! made the straps out of combining navy and a white grosgrain ribbons together and then used the remainder to create a linear bow detail above the zip on the back, partially because zips are not my best friend. The only change I would have made was to make the circumference of the waist bigger, the was a bit of a squeeze after the 6th butterfly cake….I am really proud of it and after nmonths of planning the day went spendidly, hope you all like it!
