I’m at that stage where I need maternity clothing- again! I’m due in a few months and almost all my tops are too short so I decided to set myself a challenge and design, draft and make a simple top which could be made in two hours. I think I used a Lydia or sadie pattern as my base ( I can’t remember which as I used a pattern which I had already made a few small alterations too, but I think it was Sadie which was the original pattern). Thanks for the nice comments! Yes Frankiesoup that’s a good idea with the men’s shirts! but I do like starting a sewing project from scratch instead of altering most of the time:) Congrats on your pregnancy too Suribabe! Yes I find that maternity wear is quite expensive- actually i’m currently looking for maternity swimwear- any ideas???bxx

I’ve found that thrifting men’s shirts that are too large and adding a drawstring beneath the bust is a really good way of getting cheap maternity wear. If you can get some nice long ones then you just have to buy some maternity leggings and you’re set – no need to worry about jeans or skirts or anything.
This top looks great though – I love the neckline and the little sleeves. :D
