Another go at making 2 different styles from the same pattern, with a bit of adapting going on.
Neither of these was 100% successful I don’t think. I LOVE the grey dress, especially the fabric (from Barry’s Fabric Superstore Birmingham) and the neckline is really flattering. It does look good on but when I take it off of an evening my poor arms are red raw in the crook of the elbow where it’s rubbed and it’s a struggle reaching round to zip it up without help (but that’s one of things we have partner’s for anyway isn’t it?) so I’ve done something wrong there but haven’t been able to bring myself to take it apart and re-work it as yet.
The green fabric looked great on the website but was a lot thinner and cheapo looking than I expected when it arrived. Figured I ought to make use of it though so used the same pattern, removing the sleeves and putting a V-back on it so I can use it for casual wear in the Summer.
Pattern = Burda Magazine August 2009 no.128. That edition had soooo many nice designs in it!
Grey one is some kind of wool blend I think. Not sure, it might be cotton.
Green one is a linen cotton blend I think.
This classic autumn collection has designs inspired by the Scottish countryside.
