This is my first ever framed handbag! No I don’t mean that I’m going to put the bag in a frame & hang it on the wall! I used a sew-on ‘purse frame’ to which I added my own chain, making a cross body length for extra security. The effect looks very good with the tiny stitches on the frame, but flipping heck it took a long long time to stitch!
The bag is an to go with the dress I made to wear to a friend’s wedding, so is made using the 2 fabrics of the dress – a 2 tone purple taffeta – one is plain & the other is embroidered with gold leaves. Although it’s an ‘evening bag’ I need to use it all day & evening & I’m not really one for small bags then I made the bag a bit bigger than most evening bags.
Plain two-tone taffeta, Embroidered two-tone taffeta, Medium weight interfacing Purse frame, Chain

This is absolutely beautiful! Love the color and the fact that you choose the embroidered fabric for lining.Very neat job, however long it took you to stitch. Did you use extra padding in between the layers? Look so well rounded:)

Thanks, tis my favourite colour! :-)
Didn’t use any padding but did use 2 layers of medium weight interfacing to add a little body to the taffetta
