Description

I found this ponte knit at Mood Fabrics and immediately thought it would be perfect for this 1967 Wrap Around Dress pattern (Simplicity 7572) I had purchased via the Etsy shop, Found Alchemy.

The pattern comes in 3 lengths – mini, knee and ankle. The dress is made from just one piece of fabric so most of the work is finishing the armholes, neckline and hem. Instead of using a “braided trim” as directed -very 60s :) – i just finished the edges with bias tape.

It can be worn with the opening in the front or back. Even though the fabric is ponte knit, the length makes it read more formal, I think.

Can’t wait to find an excuse to wear it!

I collect 60s 70s sewing catalogs- I can’t resist! This long version is gorgeous. Nice contemporary take on it.

The fabric colours and print are perfect for the style! It’s not easy to come across a knit fabric with nice geometric pattern.

This is great! I actually have photos of when it was featured as a pattern in a McCall’s sewing catalog in 1968! http://manicpopthrilled.blogspot.com/2013/04/mccalls-sewing-catalogs-from-1968.html
