Description

The fabric for this dress was received in exchange for my contributions as a Britex Guest Blogger

Simplicity 2577: Junior Misses’ and Misses’ One-Piece Dress with Detachable Bow: Bodice feature kimono sleeves, soft pleats at back neck edge and is gathered at waistline. Slim skirt has a pleat at lower edge of center back seam. V. 1 has 3/4 length sleeves; contrasting bow; button trim above skirt pleat. V. 2 has short sleeves.

Like most vintage patterns, the instructions assume basic dress construction knowledge. This particular pattern has quite a few diagrams, and a careful reading of the instructions will make it easy to put this dress together.

This sack-back dress is unlike anything else in my closet, and unlike anything I have ever made. I thought it was time to try something new, and this pattern fit the bill.

I added a lining to the skirt because the fabric is well suited to Fall and Winter weather and will likely be wearing stockings.

I also underlined the back of the skirt to prevent the baggy bottom that so often occurs with fitted skirts after a few hours of wear (especially with a chenille fabric with lots of drape). There is a little tutorial over on my blog, if you are interested in more specifics on that!

I am thrilled with this outfit. This one actually turned out better than I expected!

More pictures may be found over on my blog, Lilacs & Lace.

WOW!!! I can just imagine how many wolf whistles this dress caused years ago. I bet men and women can’t take there eye’s off you when you strut down the street wearing this. What a winner.

The sack-back with these pleats look fantastic on your figure, the fabric choise excellent, the color so rich…to be honest there isn’t anything on this dress that dosn’t look perfect. Pure beauty and elegance! All your dresses are gorgeous but I think this is the most pretty!
