2 darling 1930s feedsacks have been, quite desperately, calling out my name — no longer content to sit neatly folded in my stash. So here they are, in dress form! I didn’t know how the frock would turn out but I rather like it!
I used New Look pattern 6889. The end result looks much different from the illustrations. I was after a vintage-style dress that had the comfort and ease (ease in terms of slipping it on with no closures!) of a modern one.
Please visit my blog, The Fabled Needle, for detail photos and more info about how I modified this pattern.
cotton feedsack, cotton/silk voile, mother of pearl

This dress reminds me of why I started sewing. It is divine! I want this dress SO badly, I am going to try to make it now.

I love that the fabric is from a feedsack! I would have never seen the potential in the McCall’s pattern, you made something much lovelier than the pattern. Just wonderful.
